Who Are We
Established on July 27, 1916, the University of Mysore is the sixth-oldest university in India and the first to be founded in the state of Karnataka. It is also among the earliest universities established outside British India. The institution was founded through the visionary efforts of His Highness Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV, the benevolent ruler of the erstwhile Princely State of Mysore, along with the then Diwan, Sir M. Visvesvaraya. In 2000, it became the first university in India to receive Five-Star accreditation from NAAC. Further cementing its academic standing, the university was ranked 19th in India in the 2021 India Rankings by NIRF-MHRD, under the Government of India.
